Community Invited to Red Ribbon Week Proclamation and Kickoff on October 26

Community members, students, families, schools, and local leaders are invited to help officially kick off Red Ribbon Week on Monday, October 26, at 4:30 p.m. on the east side of the Union County Courthouse in downtown El Dorado.

The event will include the official reading of the Red Ribbon Week Proclamation and serve as a community kickoff to a week dedicated to encouraging young people to make healthy, safe, and drug-free choices.

Red Ribbon Week is recognized each October as a national opportunity for schools, families, prevention organizations, and communities to raise awareness about the importance of substance use prevention and to encourage youth to make positive choices for their future.

Local students, prevention partners, community leaders, and supporters are encouraged to attend the proclamation reading and show their support for young people throughout Union County by wearing RED.

Throughout Red Ribbon Week, local schools and youth organizations will participate in activities designed to reinforce prevention messages and remind students that the choices they make today can have a lasting impact on their health, goals, and future.

Red Ribbon Week activities are supported locally by eXtreme Youth Programs, a service of SHARE Foundation and ACTIVE Coalition, working alongside schools and community partners to promote prevention and healthy choices among Union County youth.
