Program Highlights

The purpose of each program is prevention. eXtreme analyzes each program annually to determine alignment with our Action Plan.

eXtreme Chapters
eXtreme Chapters are where youth join and participate in activities and events.

Since eXtreme Youth Programs is a drug prevention program designed for youth, we want youth to help with its design and become youth leaders. Youth in grades 7th through 12th can join and become leaders in drug and violence prevention through eXtreme Chapters. Each school district has its own Chapter with youth participants and a designated adult Program Advisor employed by their school. Members participate in community outreach, drug education, drug-free activities, community service, and social/emotional awareness. Members also reach out to their peers, younger students, and the community at large with an assertive drug-free, and violence-free message. A small membership fee is required. Student sponsorships or scholarships are available to students with a financial need.

To join, students are encouraged to contact their school's eXtreme Chapter or contact eXtreme Youth Programs directly at the SHARE Foundation.

Professional Trainings
All of our eXtreme Youth Programs are led by trained or licensed professionals with a focus in prevention. We partner with the ECHO Youth Programs to provide various trainings and "challenges" for our youth to gain positive growth opportunities in developing positive peer relationships, leadership skills, collaboration, team building exercises, and more. The ECHO Training Team is comprised of young adults (typically college-aged students) who have been trained in prevention strategies and leadership skills to influence kindness, positive thinking, problem-solving skills, and self-empowerment.

eXtreme Youth Programs has partnered with ECHO Youth Programs on various activities and events over the years, including our annual Teen Summit and Boot Camp. Based on the event, participating youth learn many life skills and real strategies for building relationships, becoming community leaders, growing into adulthood, and living drug-free lifestyles.

Evidence-Based Curriculum in Schools
eXtreme Prevention utilizes the best evidence-based curriculum in Union County shools. This curriculum serves as a tool for counselors and teachers to use to teach their students how to live drug free lives, say no to drugs, and provides alternative educational materials when students make mistakes.

One of our popular curricula is SMART Moves, which stands for Skills Mastery and Resilience Training. It is focused on prevention that addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use/abuse. Using a team approach, the SMART Moves program is presented at the Boys and Girls Club, which involves staff members, eXtreme Youth peer leaders, parents, and other professionals. One goal of our SMART Moves program is to train youth in this curriculum well enough so they can teach it to younger youth. Therefore, trained youth are teaching and leading younger-aged youth about SMART Moves.

The SMART Move audience for learning this prevention message is typically youth in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade. These kids are engaged in group discussions, role-playing, practicing resilience and refusal skills, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision-making skills, and analyzing media and peer influence.

Teen Summit
The annual Teen Summit brings together drug-free youth for an exciting day of team-building activities, group discussion, and personal reflection to become empowered to be more caring and confident peer leaders. Workshops focus on leadership development, drug and alcohol awareness, resistance skills, personal safety, peer education, bullying, violence prevention, suicide awareness, service, and community/environment awareness. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to network with other youth in surrounding Union County schools to learn how collectively their voices make a huge impact on their community.

Red Ribbon Week and Proclamation
Each year, eXtreme Prevention participates in Red Ribbon Week with Union County schools. We coordinate and partner with the Union County Courthouse to host a Red Ribbon Week Proclamation, which is an offiical statement to formally declare a week in October to be "Red Ribbon Week" in the jurisdiction. The proclamation serves to recognize the annual, national drug prevention campaign and encourages all citizens to participate in awareness activities.

Parent Squad
Parent Squad is a new opportunity for parents of eXtreme Youth Programs members to get involved. Parents can volunteer at events, support program growth, and learn more about drug prevention while staying connected to what their youth are doing. Interested parents are encouraged to contact us to learn more about how to join.

Alumni Association
The eXtreme Youth Programs Alumni Association connects former members who want to stay involved after graduation. Alumni can volunteer at events, mentor current students, and help the program grow through fresh ideas that resonate with today's youth. Former members are encouraged to join and continue making an impact by contacting us.
