SHARE Physician

SHARE Administration

The Search
SHARE Foundation, a leading non-profit operational foundation in EL Dorado, Arkansas, seeks a Physician.  SHARE, whose mission is to ‘identify, develop and foster programs and services that further the health and well-being of the people of our community and surrounding areas,’ has been championing community care in South Arkansas since its founding in 1996.

SHARE Foundation serves children, adolescents and seniors. It is comprised of seven agencies and programs, including: Life Touch Hospice, HealthWorks Fitness Center, Interfaith Clinic, Chaplaincy Services, PRIDE Youth Programs, a scholarship program and a grant making program. The agencies and programs primarily serve people in Union County. Life Touch Hospice serves several surrounding counties.

Reporting to the President/CEO, the SHARE Physician will ensure SHARE clinical programs are quality driven and cost effective. S/he will provide:

  • Clinical oversight and staff education that aligns with SHARE’s strategic direction.
  • Provide clinical supervision to SHARE contract physicians and advance practice providers as direct reports.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Directors of Interfaith Clinic, Lifetouch Hospice and the Vice President of Health and Wellness.
  • Serve on the SHARE Leadership Council and SHARE employee wellness committee.

The Ideal Candidate
The SHARE physician should be a compassionate provider; rendering care to terminally ill patients, underprivileged populations, and those seeking to improve their health status.  It is a multi-faceted position, allowing a physician to maintain variety and creativity in their workload.  This individual provides 24/7 on-call phone availability to the hospice program with the support of an associate medical director and a team of advance practice nurses.  This individual will be the medical “face” of the SHARE Foundation, building relationships with the medical community and providing education to the general public.  This person must have the heart of a teacher and be willing to help clinicians provide the best care possible while working with patients and families to better understand their disease process and overall health.  The physician will be granted wide latitude and flexibility in scheduling their days.  As in any medical field, there are documentation and regulatory requirements.  However, training will be provided in order to accomplish these duties.  This person will have a collaborative role with agency directors as well as the SHARE President/CEO.   This is an opportunity for a caring and mission minded physician to make a real impact in a local community.

Our Background and the Agencies Served by this Position
SHARE Foundation was established in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) with the vision of building a healthier community, and endowed with the proceeds from the sale of the local hospital. Today SHARE has five agencies that support its vision to build a healthier community. Three of those agencies will be directly impacted by the SHARE Physician’s influence.

  • Life Touch Hospice:  This agency provides the highest quality, comprehensive care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and for their families. Serving  80 patients  a  day, Life  Touch Hospice has both a home care program and a beautifully appointed home-like, 16 bed inpatient facility known as the John R. Williamson Hospice House, which opened in 2007. Life Touch Hospice utilizes an interdisciplinary team approach to enable patients and families to cope with terminal   illness.  By providing teaching and supporting services, staff and volunteers enable families and caregivers to provide care to those patients who choose to remain in their own home. Life Touch Hospice serves patients in a five-county area.  In addition to hospice services, Life Touch has a program of palliative care and provides non-hospice respite care in the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
  • Interfaith Clinic:  The Clinic provides medical care to low income populations, primarily the working insured or under-insured. The Clinic got its start in 1995 as an independent nonprofit organization when a group of medical professionals and lay persons were brought together by a local clergyman to provide medical services to the underserved of Union County. In 1997 it became an agency of SHARE and eventually relocated to SHARE Headquarters in downtown El Dorado. Currently,   Interfaith completes an average of   over 350 patient encounters per month. Prescription medication assistance, patient education and information, and referral services are additional benefits the Clinic offers. The prescription medication assistance program assists qualifying patients in the Union County area, and in 2016 alone patients were provided with over $1.5 million dollars in prescription medicine at no cost. A dental clinic was added in 2001.
  • Knox White HealthWorks Fitness Center:  Named for an individual credited in large part for its development, the Knox White HealthWorks Fitness Center was developed in 2002, with the transfer by the local YWCA of its assets to SHARE. After a $5.4 million renovation and expansion project, the facility today boasts state-of-the-art wellness facilities and programs designed to promote fitness and improve quality of life. HealthWorks has over 4,300 members making it the largest fitness center in Union County. HealthWorks provides individual and group exercise, an indoor pool, a warm water therapy pool, and a newly renovated and expanded juice bar.

The Setting
SHARE is located in the charming town of El Dorado, AR, the seat for Union County. El Dorado has been known for its connection to the oil and gas industry and serves as headquarters for New York Stock Exchange-traded Murphy Oil Corporation,  Murphy USA, and Deltic Timber Corporation, as well as significant branch operations of Clean Harbors, Delek US/Lion Oil, Lanxess, LSB lndustries/EI Dorado Chemical, and Nexans AmerCable.  These employers   have provided generous financial support to the community. One such example of this support is the 'EI Dorado Promise', a scholarship program established by Murphy Oil Corporation that provides El Dorado high school graduates with up to full tuition at any accredited public or private institution of higher learning.  Additionally, its citizenry has demonstrated tremendous community pride and support through its volunteerism, of which SHARE is a beneficiary.  While El Dorado is home to the South Arkansas Symphony and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year, it has embarked upon expanding its cultural reach within the region; with $80 million in local corporate, private and taxpayer support, El Dorado Festival & Events, Inc. is creating an arts and entertainment district that will have a performance venue, restaurants, and green spaces with play areas for children.
