Monday marked the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, the only federal holiday recognized as a National Day of Service by AmeriCorps. Therefore, AmeriCorps VISTAs are encouraged to honor Dr. King through service to one another and their communities. On Sunday, SHARE Foundation’s AmeriCorps VISTAs, Anjanett Kemp and Angela Means participated in the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in El Dorado. They showed their appreciation by holding a sign saying “Thank You, Life Touch VOLUNTEERS” to show appreciation and support to those at Life Touch Hospice. Along with the 2 VISTAS, 6 additional volunteers participated in the parade. Anjanett Kemp said, “We had a great time! There were so many diverse populations out for the parade. It really was great.”
