The Reverend Robert 'Bob' Allen
January 5, 1941 - February 23, 2025In 2025, the community mourned the loss of The Reverend Robert Allen, affectionately known as Father Bob, who passed away on February 23 at the age of 84 in El Dorado, Arkansas. Father Bob’s life of faith, service, and creativity left a lasting impact on those he served.
Born on January 5, 1941, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Bob’s academic journey took him from Hendrix College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, to graduate studies in theology and painting. Ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1973, Bob served in several roles, including Rector of Holy Apostles in Memphis, Tennessee, and Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of West Tennessee. In 1991, he returned to Arkansas and led St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado until his retirement in 2007. Even after retiring, he continued his ministry as a supply priest at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Crossett, Arkansas, until 2014.
Father Bob’s most enduring legacy is the founding of the Interfaith Health Clinic, now known as the Father Bob Allen Charitable Clinic. What began as a small initiative in a room at St. Mary’s has grown into a vital resource providing healthcare to uninsured and low-income residents of Union County.
His memory continues to live through his legacy in the community, the lives he touched, and the ongoing work of the Father Bob Allen Charitable Clinic.

Billie Lindo first discovered Rock Steady Boxing at HealthWorks Fitness Center in May 2024, after seeing an article in an Arkansas magazine and learning about the program through a brochure at her Tai Chi class in Magnolia. Despite not having her own transportation at the time, Billie was determined to join the program and, with the help of insurance-covered transportation, made the journey to El Dorado to being her path with Rock Steady Boxing (RSB).
When she first observed a class, Billie was immediately struck by the dedication and determination of the participants. “I was amazed at how hard the people in the class were working to fight back against Parkinson’s disease,” she recalls. Although many of the participants were further along in the journey with Parkinson’s disease than she was at the time, Billie felt an immediate connection and knew RSB was something she needed in her life. “It put a smile on my face; I couldn't stop smiling,” she said, reflecting on her first experience.
Now, nearly a year later, Billie has seen firsthand the transformative effects that RSB has had on her health and well-being. “I felt like I’ve moved on to the next stage of Parkinson’s, but it’s still better than before,” she shares. Each class leaves Billie feeling better, both physically and emotionally, and she finds herself attending even on days when she doesn’t feel like it. “I know I will feel much better afterward,” she says, emphasizing how RSB has enhanced her ability to move her body and engage in activities she loves.
Billie’s experience with Rock Steady Boxing has not only improved her own health, but she is now a passionate advocate for the program. “Oh, my goodness YES, YES,” she exclaims when asked if she would recommend RSB to others with Parkinson’s disease. “Anytime I have a chance to talk about RSB to anybody, whether they have Parkinson’s or have a family or friend, I encourage them to get involved.” For Billie, Rock Steady Boxing at HealthWorks has become a vital part of her life, offering both physical strength and a sense of community that empowers her every day.
